On April 21-23, Justiça Ambiental - Friends of the Earth Mozambique will organize in Maputo, capital of the country, the conference “Seeding Climate Justice – Maputo Meeting on Real Solutions to the Climate Crisis”. Local Mozambican and Southern African community members, African and international climate justice activists, Mozambican civil society organizations and Mozambican government officials will participate in the event. Some of the issues that will be dealt with at the conference, in the road towards the COP 21 to take place in Paris in December, include: equity and historical responsibility; the framing of energy, food and justice; the opposition to carbon markets & false solutions; and the urgent need for energy transformation in Mozambique, Africa & beyond. Real World Radio will be present at the conference and will host a special coverage of the event.

In 2011, Real World Radio (RWR) participated in a “Toxic Tour” in the South Durban industrial basin, in South Africa, where giant oil transnational corporations were causing an environmental disaster, with dangerous consequences for the health of the people. The conference “Seeding Climate Justice – Maputo Meeting on Real Solutions to the Climate Crisis” started on Tuesday, in Maputo, capital of Mozambique. It is organized by Justiça Ambiental - Friends of the Earth Mozambique. On the first day of activities, approximately 200 representatives of social movements and organizations, communities, environmental groups, networks of women and young people, among other actors from several African countries and international guests focused on the role of social groups in the fight for climate justice.
