The conference “Seeding Climate Justice – Maputo Meeting on Real Solutions to the Climate Crisis” started on Tuesday, in Maputo, capital of Mozambique. It is organized by Justiça Ambiental - Friends of the Earth Mozambique. On the first day of activities, approximately 200 representatives of social movements and organizations, communities, environmental groups, networks of women and young people, among other actors from several African countries and international guests focused on the role of social groups in the fight for climate justice. The conference will come to an end on Thursday.
Activist Meena Raman, of SAM-Friends of the Earth Malaysia and Third World Network said that according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we are on track for 4.8 – 7.8º C of warming by 2100, and as much as 2º C could be very dangerous.
