This was the name of the section led on Tuesday by South African environmental activist Bobby Peek, of groundWork-Friends of the Earth South Africa, in the framework of the conference “Seeding Climate Justice – Maputo Meeting on Real Solutions to the Climate Crisis”, in Mozambique.
According to data presented by Peek, making reference to Friends of the Earth International´s publication “Good Energy – Bad Energy?” (see:http://www.foei.org/resources/publications/publications-by-subject/climate-justice-energy-publications/g-e-b-e), 1.3 billion of the people of the world have no access to electricity, and 2.6 billion do not have access to clean cooking facilities.
Peek established the links between fossil-fuel-based energy exploitation, its consequences for local communities and climate change and also analyzed the need for energy transformation to face this crisis.
Let´s now listen to South African environmental activist Bobby Peek
