The Intergovernmental Working Group of the United Nations Human Rights Council in charge of defining the terms of a binding treaty on human rights and transnational corporations will hold its first session on July 6-9 in Geneva, Switzerland. In parallel, the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity, together with the “Treaty Alliance” made up by hundreds of organizations and social movements from different parts of the world, will organize a “week of mobilizations” to highlight the urgent need of such a binding treaty. Just like in June, 2014, when the Human Rights Council voted in favor of the creation of the Intergovernmental Working Group, Real World Radio will cover the activities of the social groups and networks gathered in Geneva.
