The National Front of Resistance to the Coup d’Etat in Honduras denounced the murder of young leader Gilberto Alexander Núñez Ochoa, who was killed outside his home in Tegucigalpa.

The news was reported by Venezuelan network TeleSur, while they said the murder happened while the popular leader was heading home in a taxi with a friend. When they arrived, they both received shots from unidentified individuals. In the incident,
Nuñez Ochoa’s friend, Jose Andres Oviedo, also died.

The murdered leader was part of the security and discipline commission of the Honduran resistance and had warned the Front about the infiltration of suspects that entered the popular demonstrations to sabotage them. Also, there had been reports of threats and harassment against him by state operatives.

The Front in Honduras not only reported the incident but it called the attention on the increasing violence against members of the peaceful resistance.

In statements published by Pulsar news agency, peasant leader Rafael Alegría said that Porfirio Lobo’s administration -which came to office early this year after controversial elections that were questioned by the resistance – was going in the same direction that ruled before the coup, and insisted that there was an increase of violence against leaders of the popular resistance.

Leader Carlos Reyes told Pulsar that the current administration was part of the antidemocratic process began after the coup d’etat and said it was not true that Lobo had been elected in free elections.
