Honduran coup perpetrators murder two more members of the peaceful resistance

The news arriving from Honduras deal with negotiations among delegates of Honduran constitutional President Manuel Zelaya and representatives of the coup perpetrators who ousted him on June 28th, but they deal little or nothing with the violent repression suffered by those who defend the ideas of the popular front, which has claimed the reinstatement of democracy since Roberto Micheletti began his de facto government.
“Now we are burying our friend Jairo Sánchez, who was injured by a police officer on September 23rd, and died on Saturday. And this Monday morning, they killed a teacher member of the resistance in the department of Santa Barbara”, said leader Juan Barahona, coordinator of the Front Against the Coup d´Etat in Honduras. “The repression continues and political murders continue”, he added.
Barahona also made reference to the negotiations between representatives of the constitutional and the de facto government to return to democracy. Barahona himself was part of these negotiations, but decided to leave since the carrying out of the Constituent Assembly was no longer under negotiation. He said he wasn´t too confident about the effectiveness of the negotiations since there isn´t political will in the de facto government to reestablish the constitutional order.
He also said that despite the repression, the organized Honduran people will continue resisting, demanding the reinstatement of Zelaya and a Constituent Assembly.
