Almost two decades since the introduction of the first genetically modified crops in our region and while new events are released year after year, REDES – Friends of the Earth Uruguay, in the context of its 25th Anniversary, and the Uruguay Sustentable Program carried out this seminar with a critical view of their impacts on the health of the population and the environment, the risks in terms of biosafety, the existing legal framework, the role of transnational companies who own this technology and the lack of citizen participation surrounding this process.
