Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism 2017
In 2017, the tens of social movements and organizations that are part of the Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, and which mobilized last year, will continue their activities and demonstrations in different countries of the Americas. The strongest days will be November 16-18, when thousands of people of the continent will gather for a Meeting in Montevideo (capital of Uruguay). Real World Radio will cover the work agenda and the demonstrations in the framework of the Continental Day throughout the year.

We need to “end with the right-wing that today is dishonestly occupying the spaces we, somehow, have left open”, said Francisca “Pancha” Rodríguez, of the National Association of Rural and Indigenous Women of Chile (Anamuri) at the opening ceremony of the Meeting in Montevideo. The main avenue in Montevideo, capital of Uruguay, was flooded this morning by thousands of people participating in the Meeting in Montevideo as part of the Continental Day for Democracy and against Neoliberalism. Over 3000 people coming from all countries of the Americas marched together with Uruguayan workers and activists amid a strike organized by the Uruguayan central union PIT-CNT to support the mobilization as part of this meeting, which will come to an end on Saturday 18.
