From 1 to 12 of December of 2014, Peru’s capital, Lima, will host the 20th Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Industrialized countries will try to free themselves of their obligations resulting from the climate debt they owe to the countries of the south (such as reducing emissions, climate finance and technology transfer) and they will continue to promote false market solutions to climate change. At the same time, from December 9 to 12, social movements and organizations of the world will meet in Lima at the Peoples’ Summit to promote real solutions and mobilize for climate justice.
