Representatives of over forty indigenous peoples of all across Latin America will meet on September 25 and 27 in Valle de Chalco municipality, to discuss development alternatives towards “the Abya Yala transformation”.
In the workshops the delegates of the communities will evaluate the experiences of the local governments guided by the indigenous organizations. This will result in new solutions “towards autonomy and self-determination”.
The call says “We are undergoing new times in our continent, times when the indigenous movement emerges to walk towards the restoration of life”.
Besides the debates on autonomy and self-government, there will be conferences on indigenous rights and legislation, participatory budget, indigenous and alternative management models, participation of women and community economies.
There will also be discussions on different community development plans, solidary economy, productive projects and systematization of the historical memory for the organizational process.
The forum also aims that the representatives of the indigenous peoples that would come from abroad share their experiences of how their relationship with their local governments has been, what are their strategies of political incidence and what legal tools they’ve used.
These exchange would contribute to strengthen and unite the indigenous of Valle de Chalco, which as migrants have their own features because of the adaptation process to the urban municipality.
