The experiences on peasant trade and Well-Living were shared by the participants of the 2nd Continental Meeting of Agroecology Trainers carried out by CLOC Via Campesina.

The heritage of our ancestors, in addition to research against the globalizing model, was highlighted at the Meeting, where Central American representatives shared solidarity economy practices where the agri-food chain is based on the food produced by peasants.

The participants added that we need to learn from the culture, solidarity and integration of peoples and if we want to “develop production processes we need to know that we have to counteract the globalizing model with the production capacity of peasants by implementing this production chain”. The meeting ended on Wednesday with the presence of tens of farmers and indigenous people from Meso and South America.

The participants also said that only the work of human beings produces healthy food. The farmers produce corn, beans, meat and all types of food that are taken from the countryside to the table, so it is simplistic to only take into account the market and capital when we consider the wealth of the peoples.

The meeting also concluded that the main challenge for those who work the land is to continue implementing agroecological practices to provide healthy products and be in harmony with Mother Earth and Nature.

According to the participants, if consumers create their own production system we will advance towards the building of Well Living and strengthen the solidarity market that is a result of the work of many.
