The Association of Indigenous Cabildos of Norte del Cauca (ACIN), in Colombia, is showing unedited images of the indigenous eviction of military in Cerro Berlin in Toribio municipality.

“What the mass media did not show” is the name of the short film produced by Tejido de Comunicación de la ACIN.

Cerro Berlin is a sacred place for the indigenous of Norte del Cauca. So the communities arrived there on July 17 to demand the withdrawal of the military. They also asked the leftist guerrilla Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to leave those lands.

During the liberation of Cerro Berlin, the military threw tear gases and fired shots in the air to intimidate the communities. But the indigenous resisted and managed to lift the military tents and to expel them. They took over the territory on July 19.

The video ends with the following reflection: “Would you let them invade your backyard? Cerro Berlin is our home”.
