    We Have Reached a Verdict

    Ruling about the operation of European companies in Latin America

    The Jury of the Permanent Peoples´ Tribunal of Madrid issued on Monday morning their ruling over the 27 cases submitted against European corporations for their operations in Latin America. The companies had been accused by social organizations and movements of violating human rights, regulations, laws and of damaging the environment and food sovereignty, among other things. Read more

    Nothing new: European transnational corporation violates Colombian community rights

    Transnational corporation Carbones de Cerrejon and its implementation by force in Colombia, with the complicity of the European Union, was accused of human rights violations before the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal in Madrid. The Tribunal issued 27 rulings on Monday, which is the total amount of cases filed. Read more

    Marching to Madrid

    Demonstration in the Spanish capital city against European capital

    Over 15,000 people demonstrated on Sunday in Madrid against the neoliberal policies of the European Union (EU) in Latin America, especially against the action of its corporations in that region.     Energy disaster

    Endesa and Enel once again accused by the social movements

    The energy corporation Endesa Chile, a subsidiary of Endesa Spain, and the company Colbun, are planning on building five big dams in the Chilean Patagonia, which will imply flooding 6,000 hectares of land, including agricluture, cattle and forest lands. The energy generated would be aimed to supply the industry of Santiago de Chile, 2,300 kilometers away, and the mining industry in the North of the country. Read more

    Peoples Summit Began in Madrid

    The Summit Linking Alternatives 4 began on Friday in Madrid with an event at the Universidad Complutense. Several representatives from European and Latin American social movements spoke at the event. One of the highlights was the words in homage to Mexican activist Betty Cariño, who was murdered two weeks ago in the state of Oaxaca. The hundreds of people gathered in the opening event stood up and broke out into applause. Read more
