In Colombia, the National Agrarian Coordination, member of La Via Campesina, denounced at the Peoples Congress that the political power of this country is promoting legislation that only benefit multinational companies.
“The national government is promoting quite a perverse project, which is open pit mining or megamining”, said Robert Daza, leader of the organization, in an interview with Real World Radio.
The National Agrarian Coordination is participaing in the process of the Social Minga of Community Resistance, and is in permanent contact with other indigenous, afro-descendant, union and peasant groups in Colombia.
Daza considers tat the policies which tend to the “complete looting of resources” will lead to “absolute poverty” of the future generations, and that is why it is essential to join struggles to face these problems common to all Colombian people.
“Without equality for women, no political change has sense”, said Daza, who also made reference to the campaigns carried out in the territories to avoid consuming products from “multinational of poison” such as Coca-Cola and Monsanto.
The leader sent a message of hope and solidarity to all peasants in the world. “We are not alone, we are also fighting for food sovereignty, against climate change and in favor of alternatives that allow us to continue in our territories”, he concluded.
