La Via Campesina, the World March of Women and Friends of the Earth International have reinforced their joint struggle against transnational corporations, accusing them of taking over lands, natural resources and violating women rights, and ratified the need to "dismantle" the power of large companies and their "architecture of impunity".
In a joint press conference held on March 27 in Tunisia, in the framework of the World Social Forum, the three networks supported the Global Day of Action against economic violence towards women which will be celebrated this April 24. They also expressed their commitment around food sovereignty, the fight for water and agroecology, and expressed their rejection against the commodification of life.
The three speakers at the press conference were Via Campesina´s general coordinator Elizabeth Mpofu, activist of the World March of Women Yildiz Temürtürkan and co-coordinator of Friends of the Earth International´s Food Sovereignty Program, Kirtana Chandrasekaran.
