“We are not only talking about food sovereignty, but of peoples’ sovereignty, and especially of everything related with the advance of US imperialism in Latin America and the intervention in democratic governments”, Nury Martinez leader of the National Unified Agricultural Trade Union Federation of Colombia (FENSUAGRO) told Real World Radio.
“We are very concerned about this and we need to be united and have more international solidarity to be alert to the things that might happen in the region”, said Martinez.
Real World Radio interviewed Martinez during La Via Campesina’s 6th International Conference held in Jakarta, Indonesia. She also spoke about the Colombian reality, including her position regarding the peace process between the national government and the leftist guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
