The paper was launched ahead of a new round of negotiations to start on October 23rd in Geneva, Switzerland, in the framework of the United Nations Human Rights Council, about a binding treaty that deals with human rights abuses perpetrated by transnational corporations.

In February, the French Parliament passed a law that forces the headquarters of transnational companies and their subsidiaries along the supply chain to respond for their human rights violations and environmental damage.

ActionAid France-Peuples Solidaires and Friends of the Earth France will be carrying out some activities these days to promote the new report and exert pressure on the government of France to actively participate in the round of negotiations starting on October 23rd at the UN in support of the binding treaty on transnational corporations and human rights. Friends of the Earth France will join the important delegation of Friends of the Earth International that will be pushing for this in Geneva.
