The coordinator of the Food Sovereignty Program of Friends of the Earth International, Kirtana Chandrasekaran, shares in the following video a summary of the role of forests and its communities in the building of food sovereignty. The interview was conducted by Real World Radio during the actions of the Civil Society Mechanism of the Committee on World Food Security that is holding its sessions in Rome until next Friday.
The process to defend the rights of communities that live and depend on forests, as well as their role on agriculture, is being blocked by some countries present at the CFS that are refusing to discuss issues such as human rights or agroecology in the context of Community-based Forest Management.
