The building of Food Sovereignty, exceeding the limits of self-sustenance to provide healthy and agroecological food to urban workers and also the international influence and integration of countries are some of the challenges to be dealt with at this event. Over 1,000 delegates from the 20 countries that are part of the Coordination are expected to participate in the Congress.

At the Congress, the peasant movement will also analyze the new features of the struggle in the country, with the installation of energy-mining megaprojects and the privatization/financialization of common resources, from water to seeds.

The control of markets and food prices, political capacity building and the development of a new technological model for agroecology and family farming are part of the challenges highlighted, among others, by the leader of the Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil, Joao Pedro Stedile, during his intervention on Tuesday on the first day of the Congress.
